For every investment into a small and medium enterprise (SME), an average of nine jobs has been created. These statistics have been recorded by Business Partners Limited (BUSINESS/PARTNERS) over the past 35 years that they have been in operation. The company celebrates its 35th anniversary since it opened its doors on this day 35 years ago (4 February 1981).

To date, the company has concluded 70 000 investments in excess of R 16.1 billion to SME owners, and through this funding has facilitated the creation of almost 600 000 employment opportunities.

Established in 1981, BUSINESS/PARTNERS’ sole focus has been to provide investment capital and business support to local SMEs. In 2004, having identified a demand for its services beyond South African borders, Business Partners International - a subsidiary of BUSINESS/PARTNERS - was established, and, at present, has offices in Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia.

Ben Bierman, Managing Director Designate of BUSINESS/PARTNERS says that the company’s driving intent has always been to foster and entrench a culture of entrepreneurship through its financing and support for entrepreneurs, and will continue to do so in decades to come.

“We acknowledge and appreciate all the entrepreneurs who have allowed us into their businesses over the years. We look forward to continued relationships with our current entrepreneurial clients and to expand the continent’s entrepreneur base going into the future,” concludes Bierman.
