The Africa for Africa Women’s Organization will host an Africa for Africa International Women’s Day Conference (AAWC2017) on 07-09 March 2017 at Feather Market Centre, Port Elizabeth at 10H00.
The conference is endorsed and will be graced by the National Ministers of the relevant ministries in the sectors of focus; Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of International Relations and Ministry of Women.
A lineup of international experts and entrepreneurs from India, Seychelles, Ghana, Nigeria, UN Women Canada will participate in this conference. On the evening of 7th guest will be treated to Welcome dinner themed “Africa is Beautiful”, with young local designers showcasing their talent.
A live address by Ms. Pumzile Mlambo Ngcuka from the United Nations in New York will set the tone on the morning of the 8th , as a fitting celebration to International Women’s Day.
This is the second Africa for Africa International conference convened by Ms. Bea Hackula in partnership with stakeholders who share the vision of the Economic Emancipation of the Women of Africa.

AAWC2017 is not only about the commemoration of the international women’s day, but the kick start of intra & intercontinental collaboration towards the realization of Vision 2063 through case study and round table engagements. This event speaks to Hon Minister Jeff Radebe–Minister for Planning, Monitor & Evaluation’s promotion of active citizenry for successful implementation of the National Development Plan.” Hackula said.
The AAWC2017 aligns to the Solemn Declaration to develop Agenda 2063 made by The African Union (AU) in its resolve for Africa to be in charge of her destiny; “through a people-driven process for the realization of our vision for an integrated, people-centred, prosperous Africa at peace with itself. “ therefore , African women must play a pivotal role in this process.
The African Union, in its 25th ordinary session, held 14-15 June 2015 in Johannesburg declared that “Declaration on the Launch of The Negotiations for the Establishment of the Continental Free Trade Area”
This 2nd seating of the AAWC endorsed by the national Ministries of Tourism, Women and International Relations takes from the inaugural session’s resolution of ensuring a sustained and focused approach to women development through women cooperatives and SMEs. Cooperatives are in their very nature local based organizational structures and are better placed to respond to local realities. The theme of AAWC2017 is aimed at ensuring the mobilization and strengthening of women cooperatives towards local economic development. The agenda for the conference will focus on growing local economies and ensuring sustainable livelihoods through effective women cooperative structures.
Studies have proven that when you empower a woman her development is likely to have a positive impact on the entire family and extend to the community at large.
