Motlekar Cape’s Fountainhead Blue Downs housing development was recently bestowed the coveted Housing Project of the Year 2013 award for houses over R125 000 per unit category.  With its focus on developing affordable housing, brighter futures and burgeoning environments for low to moderate income people through strategic partnerships, this was indeed a proud moment for the organisation.

The award comes as recognition in providing an innovative approach to funding, well-designed, quality houses that are low maintenance and affordable. It is further an acknowledgment of providing community support through the utilisation of 90% local labour and sub-contractors thus creating a sustained transfer of skills.

The development has also been hailed as a sustainable project that successfully integrates community living in a thriving environment with access to various economic opportunities.

The Southern African Housing Foundation (SAHF) is a private sector initiative that brings together housing professionals both locally and globally in support of developing sustainable communities. It is the aim of SAHF to promote the science and art of housing by creating a platform for recognition and exchange and such developments that have excelled at this are acknowledged each year at a prestigious awards ceremony.
